Resort Information - Vacation Planning

Here are a few basic questions about Universal Orlando Resort that should better assist you on planning your next vacation to the Resort.

Is Universal Orlando Resort a place to bring kids?
Well, yes and no. It depends if your kid(s) fit the height requirement on the rides. If they don't, there are a few kiddie attractions at both park but not enough to make them happy for a whole day. If you are traveling with kid(s) under 10 then some attractions such as Jaws, Revenge of the Mummy, Twister, Earthquake, Terminator 2:3-D, Jurassic Park, Poseidons Fury etc.. may frighten them. If your dying to visit the resort however then do come and bring the kid(s) and just set aside some time to do the kiddie attractions.
When is the best time to go?
This all depends on the type of person you are. Pretty much whenever is a great time to go. If you want to go to the Resort when it won't be that crowded, then I suggest go in January/February those seem to be good times to go. If you like haunted houses and scary type things then go during October for Halloween Horror Nights which takes place every year, if you like beads, food and live entertainment then go during March-April for Mardi Gras which takes place every year, if you like the Macy's Parade you see on TV in New York every year then between the months of December-early January is the Macy's Holiday Parade with actual floats from the Macy's Parade (Grinchmas also takes place around that time over at Islands of Adventure, you can meet the grinch and watch a live performance of How the Grinch Stole Christmas)
I want to see something filmed while I'm at the Resort
This is one of the most thrilling aspects of Universal Orlando Resort not only is it an entertainment complex complete with 3 hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, shops and 2 theme parks, it is also a real working TV and Movie Studio! If you want to find out what is going to be "In Production" while your there call toll free (407) 224-4233 Option 5 or visit the Studio Audience Center located to the right of the main entrance turnstiles to Universal Studios Florida.
What is the best on-site hotel at the resort?
I have stayed at all three numerous times. I have this much to say. If you are going to Universal with family or friends and looking just to have fun, I reccomend the Hard Rock Hotel because the hotel is themed to partying and having fun.
If you are going with someone else and it is more of a 'romantic' vacation, I highly reccomend The Portofino Bay Hotel. It has rooftop dining, lights all over at night, big spacious rooms, and it is the furthest away from the parks so it is the most quiet.
Finally, if you are going away to just kick back and relax I suggest the Royal Pacific Resort. It is themed to a hawaiin beach retreat. The colors, music and running water located throughout the hotel's premise makes it the perfect hotel for those getting away from reality to just unwind.
What attractions should be done first?
At Universal Orlando I reccomend doing Revenge of the Mummy first. It is the most popular attraction at the park. Then, Fear Factor Live, Shrek 4D, Men In Black, Jimmy Neutron, Back to the Future and Twsiter are the attractions with waits that vary throughout the day with a minimum wait of 20 mins. and a maximum of 100 mins. plan accordingly.
At Islands Of Adventure I reccomend doing The Incredible Hulk Coaster first, followed by The Amazing advntures of Spider-Man, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, Jurrasic Park River Adventure, Dueling Dragons, and then Poseidons Fury.
What is there for adults to do?
Universal Orlando Resort is not Disney, it is directed toward teens and adults. If the wild and jaw-dropping attractions don't do it for you then maybe the recreation offered at all three hotels will? Or maybe the 5 Live Entertainment/Night Clubs will, or the giant Universal Cineplex with 20 screens, or the famous restaurants such as Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Emerils Restaurant, the Hard Rock Cafe and many more! Or maybe its the 8 shops in CityWalk alone. Either way your going to have a great time!
