What's Hot at Universal - Mardi Gras 2008 @ Universal Studios

What's Going On?
It's that time of year. Universal has set up its Voodoo Bars, the Cajun food, and more specialties from New Orleans all around the New York Backlot. Every saturday night from February 2nd until April 19th 2008, the nightlife comes to life inside the park. The food comes out, a giant parade filled with some new floats are debuting this year, and of course they all have one thing in common...BEADS!
After you caught all your beads and had all the food and voodoo drinks you can possibly stand, head on over to the "Boneyard" area (the big open space between Jimmy Neutron and Twister) as one of your favorite bands such as LL Cool J, Gretchen Wilson, Third Eye Blind, Heart, Go-Go's and more come out to put on an exclusive show for you!
For more information and to see what bands are playing and when, visit our Mardi Gras page.
Facts, Figures, Trivia & More!
• Each float is uniquely themed to fit Mardi Gras to try and bring as much of New Orleans to Universal as possible.
• The most famous drink known all around Mardi Gras at Universal is the Voodoo drink. Visit one of the many Voodoo bars and try one for yourself!
• The Mardi Gras event is free with your admission for the day. If you leave the park but want to come back later to experience Mardi Gras, keep your ticket and get your hand stamped. Annual Passholders get in free.
Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Mardi Gras good for children?
A: Halloween Horror Nights and Mardi Gras are two events I suggest that children under 12 should not be brought to. Both events sell mass quanities of alcohol, and it has more of an adult theme to it. I had somebody ask me to move out of the way last year at Mardi Gras so their 5 year old could catch the beads. I'm sorry, but this is not the event for you. The children will love the Macy's Holiday Parade and all the summer festivites.

Q: Can I take my shirt off and curse like a sailor?
A: I said this event had more of an adult theme, but lets not get crazy. Stuff like that can and will get you thrown out. This is a theme park after all.

Q: When does the parade / concert start?
A: Each weekend the parade and the concert start at different times. The only thing that I can tell you is that the parade always comes before the concert. I would make sure to be in the park around 7:00 PM no matter what saturday night, and check your guidemap for times.
